So it has been over a year since we posted anything! We know that is a long time. With our new house, we did not travel or hike much in the past year, but we have had a few adventures that we want to share. First, for our Spring Break this year, we went to the Oregon Coast. We explored the Samuel H Boardman Scenic Corridor. It is located off Highway 101 near Brookings. You really can't go wrong with any part of the Oregon Coast, but we definitely highly recommend this area. Not only is it amazingly beautiful, it seemed less crowded than some of the coastlines we have visited on other trips.
We love the Oregon Coast with all of the rocks. It is so different from southern California beaches. There are many different short hikes all along the way. It was a little rainy but we had some sun too. It was a perfect break from school for us.
June Trip
In June of this year, we headed to Washington State to see North Cascades National Park and Mt. Rainier National Park. We also saw Snoqualmie Falls, Grand Coulee Dam, and Palouse Falls along the way. We have a wall in our house with pictures from all the national parks we've been to. We have covered most of them in the lower 48. We attach a picture with string to the location on the map. It's been a fun way to keep track. |
We did a few hikes in North Cascades (including Rainey Lake and Diablo Lake), but many of the roads were still closed in Mt. Rainier due to snow. Some of the North Cascades hikes also still had snow and so we had to pass on those as well. It was very beautiful and we would love to go back and do more hikes.
