It was a long time coming, but we finally did a new hike. We have had a crazy summer with a lot of fun, but not many hikes. We had done a few repeats but nothing new until today. Melinda's friend, Carolyn, asked if we had ever hiked to Phelps Lake in Grand Teton National Park. We hadn't even heard of it so we looked it up. It is a hike that anyone can do. There are so many trails around the lake that you can hike from 2 miles to 5+ miles if you go around the entire lake. We started the hike at the Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Center (you can also start at the Death Canyon trailhead). We hiked about 4 miles. We were heading around the lake when we saw a bear cub along the lake edge. We did not see the mom but figured she was close by. We turned around and headed back. We will return and hike it again in the future.
