Hike #8--Hiking the Cave Area
There are a number of caves at Craters of the Moon to see. There are four of them in one area and it is about 2 miles of hiking to see all of them. There is the Dewdrop Cave, Beauty Cave, Boy Scout Cave, and Indian Tunnel (which was our favorite). The Indian Tunnel is a lava tube you can walk easily through and don't really need a flashlight. When you get to the other end, you can walk back on top of the tunnel. The other caves require a flashlight to get very far into the cave. The longest of these is the Boy Scout Cave. It requires a little more effort to get into and is a lot darker inside. We didn't go very far because our lights weren't the greatest. This is definitely a fun place to go and is fun for everyone. We would suggest going when it is cooler because when it gets hot it radiates off the black lava rock.
