That's right, 8 hikes! We took a trip to the Oregon Coast and did 8 different hikes. The Oregon coast is beautiful and so different from what you think of as a typical beach. The rocks add so much interest to the beaches.
Hike #13--Top of Multnomah Falls Multnomah Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in the Columbia River Gorge. Just seeing the falls is amazing, but you can also hike to the top of the falls. The sign at the bottom says the hike is 1 mile to the top (and 11 switchbacks), but when you get to the top there is a sign that says 1 1/4 mile. Melinda's GPS watch was not working, so we are saying the hike is 2.5 miles round trip. |
Hike #15--Ramona Falls
Ramona Falls is a waterfall in the Mt Hood Wilderness near Portland. It is a 7-mile round trip hike to a spectacular waterfall. Another great thing about this hike is that we saw two people coming from the waterfall and two on our way back. We had the waterfall to ourselves and it was AWESOME!!

Hike #16--Hike of 10 Waterfalls
This was the hike that first drew us to Oregon. It is near Salem and about a 2 hour drive from Lincoln City, which was where we were staying. The hike is located in Silver Falls State Park. We hiked for 9.5 miles and really saw 10 waterfalls (only three are pictured). The trail went behind four of the waterfalls which was awesome as well. It was a longer hike but you see so many waterfalls that you almost (yes, we did get tired) forget how long you have been hiking. Silver Falls State Park is a beautiful area and definitely a place you should visit if you are in the Salem area.

Hike #17--Drift Creek Falls Not far from Lincoln City was where the Drift Creek Falls trail head was located. The hike is only 3 miles round trip and the waterfall is great, but there is a suspension bridge that is the best part. It reminded us of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as you cross it. Luckily, no one cut it down and it is very sturdy. |
Hike #18 & #19--Cape Perpetua and Heceta Head Lighthouse Cape Perpetua had a number of trails that were connected. We started on the Captain Cook Trail and hiked to Devil's Churn (about 2 miles round trip) as well. It was not high tide so we did not get to see all of the water shooting out of different cracks, but it was still an amazing sight. We hiked up to Heceta Head Lighthouse, which is a mile hike round trip. It is uphill, but not too difficult and definitely great to see. Heceta Head is the most photographed lighthouse in Oregon. |
Hike #20-Cleetwood Cove Trail
Cleetwood Cove Trail is in Crater Lake National Park. It is the only trail that goes to the edge of the lake (2 miles round trip). It is actually a tough hike because it is very steep down to the lake and you have to hike back up. It was a chilly day in Crater Lake and you could not see the lake from the view points along the rim because of the clouds. The color of the lake is amazing and this was a great hike to cap off a week of hiking.
