We did not do a hike, but wanted to share our experience with the Great American Eclipse on August 21st. We were lucky enough to be in the path of totality (for just over 2 minutes). It was our first total solar eclipse and it did not disappoint. As the eclipse moved toward totality, it seemed like the sun had gone behind a cloud because the temperature began to drop and it got a little darker. But, you would look up and still see the sun as bright as ever. Once it hit totality, it was amazing to see some stars in the sky (we didn't get any good pictures of the stars, unfortunately). We were surprised by how dark it got and how there seemed to be both a sunrise and a sunset. You could also hear cheering from groups of others who were watching nearby. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and very cool. Elisa was able to get some great pictures of the eclipse by using a filter on our camera (thanks, Teri, for the filter).

The eclipse was "Totality" amazing! Thank you so much for letting me get a copy of your pictures (umm okay you may not have known but your mom and Teri helped me:)). I wouldn't have even bothered to try if I had known how great yours would turn out. You are wonderful neighbors and I am grateful for you. I like to see the beautiful pictures of your adventures:) Thank you for sharing so much awesomeness!!1
